Info

Things are rumbling on the international scene. In countries like Hungary, Italy and Poland, the arts have been under fire for some time. But now that a US president has also appointed himself president of the prestigious Kennedy Cultural Centre and filled its board with members from his close circle, the right’s grip on culture seems to be taking definite shape.

The power of art to emotionalise, inspire and mobilise is not spared in political agendas. As a result, the pressure on artists and cultural institutions is palpably increasing.

What does this mean concretely for creators and organisations? How does political interference affect their work?

During this activity, VIERNULVIER’s Young Panel will explore these burning topical questions in collaboration with speakers. No classic stage setting, but an intimate setting that invites open and honest conversation. Think: kitchen table discussion, with speakers sharing from their own experiences. How do they deal with change? How do we arm ourselves against political pressure? And how does the arts field remain resilient?

We use the ‘fishbowl’ method: in a circle setup with an interactive inner circle where you are free to step in and out of the conversation. Fancy joining the conversation? Slide in. A quick listen? Leave a seat and listen in.
