Bart Voet and Esmé Bos are two poetic souls, talents full of craft, happily devoted to each other and to music: fado, folk songs, jazz… In everything they hear and breathe music. Esmé sings, Bart plays.
In Liefde is van hout, they weave their musical phrases through a narrative by Bruno. It becomes a spoken song, a sung story about love and a tree.
Big love. And a big tree.

“Liefde is van hout is in de eerste plaats een ingenieus opgebouwde familiehistorie vol passie, geluk maar ook dood en ongeluk. Subtiel muzikaal begeleid. Al zit er tussen de gesproken en gezongen regels door – en op het einde ook expliciet – nog een andere nood verweven. Het verhaal start in de vorige eeuw en eindigt vandaag. In een wereld waar bomen vaak sneuvelen voor economische doeleinden. En dan komt die zin: ‘De verbeelding is godverdomme het enige wat we op den duur nog hebben.”
