Curious about new talent? Come meet the next generation of gifted creators.

Het TheaterFestival and Amplo aim to support emerging makers and artists by giving them a platform to share their ideas through the Roel Verniers Pitch & Award. Each year, we search for new and inspiring concepts by early-career and recently graduated performing artists – from theatre to dance, slam, performance, text, and more.

A professional jury selects eight makers who will pitch their concept live on Friday, September 5, 2025, during the festival at VIERNULVIER in Ghent. The winner will be announced that evening and will receive a co-production grant of €10,000 as well as a spot at Het TheaterFestival 2026 in Brussels. That same evening, Sabam will also present a development grant.

Roel Verniers

Roel Verniers was a writer, columnist, theatre enthusiast, and former coordinator of Het TheaterFestival. He passed away from cancer on September 22, 2011, at the age of 37. As an inspiring figure, he encouraged young creators to pursue their dreams. In his honor, Het TheaterFestival established the Roel Verniers Award in 2012.
